Ram Porasip has been the traditional seat of the party, where party leader and leader Mohammad Azam Khan has been a member of the House eight times. The seat was vacant after Azam Khan's MP was elected. Akhilesh Yadav, the party chief, also campaigned on the seat which became a matter of dignity for the SP.
